Preparing for Homelessness or Nomad Living

The economic situation in the United States and around the world has left many people struggling to afford housing and find work. The pandemic may have exacerbated the situation, but the current economic downturn has made it even more challenging to make ends meet. Making sacrifices and taking control of your finances are crucial during these difficult times.

I know firsthand what it’s like to live as a nomad, moving from temporary housing to temporary housing in 2018 until I could find something more permanent. While it was nice not having to worry about extra bills, the anxiety of being unhoused never fully went away. Living out of suitcases is physically and mentally exhausting, requiring adaptability, flexibility, and resilience to navigate successfully.

Job hunting adds an additional layer of instability on top of the already uncertain living situation. It’s a challenging experience that can leave you feeling hopeless and defeated.

As I sit here in 2023, three years after the pandemic started, I realize that life is never a straight line. Sometimes, it requires us to face one challenge at a time. And for many of us, the challenge right now is finding affordable housing and employment in a difficult economic climate. But we must keep pushing forward, making smart financial decisions and never losing sight of our goals.
